On January 19, 2024, the Indonesian Health Personnel Council (KTKI) visited Dental Health Department of Polkesyo as an initiative to enhance the quality and professionalism of medical and health personnel, while ensuring legal protection for the public. This independent institution is responsible for coaching, supervising, and elevating the competence of medical and health workers. Dental and Oral Therapists fall under the purview of the Medical Technician Council.
Delegates from the Medical Technician Council engaged with students in various stages of their academic journey within the Dental Health Department at Poltekkes Kemenkes Yogyakarta. Specifically, they interacted with sixth-semester students in the DIII Dental Health Study Program, eighth-semester students in the Dental Therapy Study Program, and seventh-semester students in the Dental Therapy Study Program's RPL class. Additionally, they met with lecturers and educational staff.
The session focused on enlightening attendees about recent amendments in health regulations, particularly in accordance with Law 17 of 2023. This legislation mandates that health practitioners must possess a valid Registration Certificate (STR) for life. Notably, there have been shifts in administrative procedures, transitioning from the KTKI website to the SDMK one healthy website.
Following the informative discussions, the delegation embarked on a tour of the OSCE dental health laboratory, deepening their understanding of the practical aspects of dental health education and training.
